TROUBLESHOOTING

Troubleshooting for Suction Cleaners.	Troubleshooting for Pressure Cleaner.
The PoolCleaner does NOT move.	The PoolCleaner does NOT move.

THE POOLCLEANER DOES NOT MOVE

Possible Cause	Solution	Video
The pump may be turned off.	Make sure the pump is ON	.
The three way valve may be in the wrong position.	If you have a designated suction port, divert suction away from your skimmers or maindrains to the suction port. If you are using the skimmer divert suction away from the maindrain to the skimmer.	.
The system may be dirty.	The filter may be dirty, and or the skimmer baskets over packed with debris.	.
The pump may not be primed	Make sure the pump is primed.	.
You may have a suction leak.	Check for leaks in the system. (Bubbles in the returning water). Fix the leak.	.
The Automatic Bypass Valve may have popped.	Reset the Valve. Click here to see how.
There could be a problem or obstruction somewhere in the system.	Clean and backwash the filter, clean the pump basket, make sure the vacuum hose is free from debris and leaks, check if pump impeller is blocked (see pump manual (impeller blockage is common in areas with pine needles))	.
Obstruction in the PoolCleaner itself.	To determine if there is an obstruction, take the cleaner out of the pool hold it in your hand with the sticker facing AWAY from you now turn the right front wheel forward (right is where your right hand is). If the cleaner moves smoothly, you dont have an obstruction (check the system its not the cleaner). If it wont move or stutters you will have to clear the obstruction. THE POOLCLEANER MOVES TOO SLOW (less than 11 RPM)

Possible Cause	Solution	Video
There could be a problem or obstruction somewhere in the system.	Clean and backwash the filter, clean the pump basket, make sure the vacuum hose is free from debris and leaks, check if pump impeller is blocked (see pump manual)	.
Low wheel RPM (insufficient flow)	(See the manual to adjust RPM) After adjusting, if it is still below 7 RPM your pump is not strong enough (the PoolCleaner™ will still move and clean but wont go up the wall). At such low flow most other cleaners won’t work at all.	.

THE AUTOMATIC BYPASS VALVE HAS POPPED

Possible Cause	Solution	Video
Something may be stuck under the PoolCleaner	AFTER SWITCHING PUMP OFF. Remove the blockage	.
The hoses or pipes may be blocked	AFTER SWITCHING PUMP OFF. Remove the blockage	.

There could be a problem or obstruction somewhere in the system.	Clean and backwash the filter, clean the pump basket, make sure the vacuum hose is free from debris and leaks, check if pump impeller is blocked (see pump manual)	.
There is too much flow	Check that the system is not set to too much suction hence tripping the Bypass Valve (Reset Bypass Valve)

THE RIGHT WHEEL WILL NOT TURN WHEN ROTATED BY HAND

THE LOOPS IN THE HOSES WONT COME OUT

(hoses won't straighten)

Possible Cause	Solution
The hoses must have been stored in a coiled posistion.	Lay them straight in the sunlight. If that doesn't work, replace that section of hose. Next time store them straight! You can get a PoolCleaner Keeper to solve this problem.
Dirt in the swivel cone. (Swivel on the head of the cleaner).	Although the swivel is self-cleaning there may be excessive debris. Remove any debris. It is helpful to place the swivel under a running tap while twisting to clean.

THE POOLCLEANER DOES NOT CLEAN THE ENTIRE POOL.

Possible Cause	Solution
The vacuum hose is too short.	The hoses must be one to two lengths longer than the farthest point from attachment.(See manual )
The hose cone swivel may be blocked.	Although the swivel is self-cleaning there may be excessive debris. Remove any debris. It is helpful to place the swivel under a running tap while twisting to clean.
Pool return fittings may be pushing the PoolCleaner hoses away	Make sure return fittings are pointed DOWN. (See manual)
The float may be in the wrong position.	The Float should be 24” (60 cm) from the gray cuff. (See manual)

THE POOLCLEANER WONT CLIMB THE WALL.

Possible Cause	Solution
See Above	See “moves too slow” and “doesn’t clean entire pool” (See above)
The float position may need to be adjusted.	For the most part make sure the Float is 24” (60 cm) away from gray cuff (See manual). But it may be necessary to adjust it by twisting the Float away from the gray cuff to improve climbing. Other factors may be at work like water too shallow, return fittings not pointed down, hoses too short.
Not enough Suction.	Increase suction to the cleaner.
...	Note: It is NOT imperative for a cleaner to go up the wall as there is no dirt or very little dirt on the walls.

THE POOLCLEANER FALLS ON ITS SIDE AND TAKES

TOO LONG TO RECOVER.

Possible Cause	Solution
The vacuum hose is too short.	The hoses must be one to two lengths longer than the farthest point from attachment. (See manual)
The float may be in the wrong position	Adjust float to be 24” (60 cm) from the gray cuff. Other factors may be at work like water too shallow, return fittings not pointed down, hoses too short.

THE POOLCLEANER CLIMBS THE WALL TOO MUCH

OR IT CLIMBS OUT.

Too much suction (flow).	Make sure the Automatic Bypass Valve is installed. You may have to adjust your 3 - way valve (See manual)	.

THE POOLCLEANER DOES NOT MOVE.

The Dirt bag may be stuffed with debris.	As our Dirt bag is so big it becomes heavy when stuffed. Clean it our before it gets too full.

...	As a fix you can add an additional float to the first length of hose (the one attached to the cleaner), right next to the one that is 24" away from the head. You may use the float closest to the pool outlet for this purpose.
